TREATISE TO THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY

I am one individual trying to make a difference in America.  I am trying to bring democracy back to America, not just to Iraq. 

As a long time democrat, I have watched it lose its base, because Democrats have voted for the wrong issues (the Iraq War being #1), emasculate itself by defeating its own traditional democratic candidates,  those with huge grassroots appeal, such as Paul Hackett, Cynthia Cegelis, and Jan Snyder,  for more "moderate" candidates, and ignore the real issues of today, in favor of whimpishness on energy, national security, and health.  Big money has stepped in to steal the Democratic Party from its base.

I see your mistakes as being so monumental that only by removing the entire national leadership can the Democrats be effective, unless you begin to pay attention to your base.  You will repeat your disasters again this year because you, like Bush, refuse to listen to reality and court only your "moderating" advisors.  You are destroying the party and, in the process, democracy in America.  You ignore long time democratic voters who no longer vote, because they have no voice under the current leadership, in favor of attracting swing and republican voters.  This is an act of voluntary self destruction by the Democratic Party.

YOU WILL NEVER BRING RIGHT WING VOTERS INTO THE DEMOCRATIC FOLD, NO MATTER HOW FAR TO THE RIGHT YOU MOVE!  NEVER.  BUT YOU WILL DESTROY THE DEMOCRATIC BASE WHO WILL NO LONGER HAVE A VOICE IN THE PARTY.   GIVE THE BASE A REASON TO RETURN TO THE PARTY AND GIVE US AN EXCITING PLATFORM TO DO IT WITH.

 The Democratic leadership might be able to energize our base if you would listen to our concerns, and change your strategy to one of emphasizing NATIONAL SECURITY, to prove to the entire country that we actually have REAL ideas to put forward.  It is all about NATIONAL SECURITY AND BUSH HAS ABANDONED THAT ISSUE.  We must take back the national discussion if we are to succeed.

 

A NEW, EXCITING DEMOCRATIC PLATFORM:

Support:

 

1)  National Security and Iraq

 

You have allowed the right wing to overwhelm you by "framing" this war as an act of patriotism instead of an act of deceit and greed.  Instead of attacking their allegations, you must insist that Iraq had nothing to do with Al Qaeda  until we invaded Iraq, and then we created the massive world terror network with our invasion.  Those who are fighting us now were not there before the invasion and our leaving will require Iraqis to stand up for themselves.  Our continued presence there exponentially creates more terrorists.  The argument that we are fighting terror there instead of here is pure bunk, and must be addressed coherently and uniformly.  We must speak with one voice, and tell them that if we stay in Iraq, we will most likely dismantle the governments and stability of the entire Mideast, possibly all the Islamic nations in the entire world, creating far more terrorists than ever existed before our invasion and occupation. 

 

The utter hypocrisy of the Republican zealots is seen in their rejection of a bill to fine military contractors for distorting billings and openly stealing taxpayer money, while the armed services cannot afford to provide basic gear to our brave troops.  The marines at Fort Bragg have just announced that our service personnel will have to purchase their own protective and military gear, because the only gear now available is unserviceable.  But these same Republicans who claim to support our troops allow our  military contractors to pay their mercenaries hundreds of thousands a year, and cheat and steal with impunity.   Are the Republicans supporting our troops, or their campaign contributors' bottom lines?

 

2)  National Security and Energy

You had FOUR years to propose and discuss, nationally, an energy plan that would make America independent of foreign oil, which is the second greatest national security issue facing America today, and the cause of the Iraqi Invasion.  You came up with three versions of an ethanol plan, possibly the most inefficient of any renewable energy source, while you ignored America's green entrepreneurs who are risking every penny they have to save America from foreign control, by producing solar, wind and geothermal energy at higher  than marketable rates, but which, with a billion dollar, concerted, national investment could turn our country independent in 5 years.  So you voted for Bush's Big Oil Giveaway Plan. 

 

3)  National Security and American Jobs

In order for American industry to send American factory jobs offshore, they MUST be able to ship foreign products back to America economically.  This REQUIRES all products to be mass shipped without any sort of security, by low paid foreign workers.  Industry cannot afford to protect its importation of foreign products made with virtual slave labor, from terrorist infiltration at any level.  So our national security is sacrificed because INDUSTRY insists on making a profit overseas, gutting our American workforce,  instead of making those same products in America and insuring that we will not be attacked by foreigners.  Sacrificing our national security for corporate profit is my definition of unpatriotic behavior.

 

4) National Security and Economic Security

 

We sold our country to China and other countries when we sent our jobs offshore.  There is NO WAY we can pay our trade debt to China or any other foreign country, and they, and other creditors will soon control our economy.  How can we continue to allow our very economic existence to be threatened by industry just to make a profit?   Why has no one asked the hard questions about how we will survive a worldwide crash that will occur when we have to declare bankruptcy?  It was this administration's intention to take our country into bankruptcy when they took office, in order to cease all "entitlements" such as social security, veteran's benefits, and other governmental obligations.  They have succeeded magnificently and anyone who asks questions is labeled "unpatriotic".  How can unemployed Americans ever pay the astronomical deficit this administration blithely created.  What does the Democratic Party propose to avoid bankruptcy?

 

5) National Security and National Health

Because Democrats joined  the Republicans to crucify Hillary's National Health Plan, we have sold out to Big Insurance, disregarding the health and safety of our nation.  Big Insurance refuses to cover sick people or to provide health care to all who need it, thus our country is left totally unprepared for a biological terror attack or even a natural pandemic.  Democrats have been silent on the absolute failure of the for-profit health care system, that the Republicans have forced on us, even voting in favor of these disastrous plans.  The only plan that will work for America is a single payer national health plan, built on the prototype of the military hospital system.  We have allowed 40% of every dollar spent on health care, to be absorbed by inefficient, insufficient, and bureaucratic private insurers, inuring benefit to millionaire executives. 

 

6)  National Security and Our Right to Vote

There has been zero Democratic reaction to TWO national elections that have been stolen by rigged voting machines, illegal manipulation of the voting roles, rigging the placement of voting machines, and the illegal results.  When you silently allow our votes to be stolen or not allowed to be cast or correctly counted, YOU have disenfranchised the Democratic base.  It is so strange that the only national objection to rigged electronic voting machines has come from the Republicans who are now complaining that, since a Venezuelan company has purchased one voting company,  there is a possibility that our votes can be manipulated.   I don't understand why only Republicans votes matter in this country anymore.  Not a single protest has been voiced by national Democrats to having our votes stolen.   Shame on you.

7)   National Security and Patriotism at the Highest Level

 First of all, Democrats cowardly voted for an illegal war, rather than standing up for the rule of law and world order.  Then, they refused to institute a hue and cry demanding complete disclosure of WHY this administration utterly refused to protect Americans from attack, when the administration had absolute and hysterical warnings of an imminent attack on America, including kamikaze attacks by commercial aircraft.  The administration did however; order all its management not to fly commercially after mid-August.  Why did no one ask why the American people did not deserve this same level of protection?   Not one Democrat has questioned the irrationality of 9-11 and the administration's utter disregard of national security to its post-attack rhetoric and lies.  The administration NEEDED an attack on America to justify its illegal invasion of Iraq to enable a takeover of Iraqi oil by Big Oil.  This is treason and you have allowed it to happen without a whimper.  Shame on you.
 

8)  National Security and Our Borders

 

The Republicans will use this issue to show they are independent of an unpopular president and they will win with it because we have no issues to counteract it.  They will also use gay marriage and flag burning issues before the election and we will be silent or simply oppose them.   The Democrats may have programs but we fail to enumerate them or make them big issues on public radio and television, CNN, the national media or any other venue.  Even the talk shows, Larry King, the Comedy Network, the late night shows, the daytime shows, ANYTHING TO GET OUR POINT ACROSS INSTEAD OF LETTING THEM MAKE ALL THE NOISE!  Shame on you.
