VILLAGE VOTING INFORMATION

Although the elections dated below have already passed, this information is being left on purpose because the un-dated parts of it are generally applicable to ANY election.  It will be up-dated prior to the next election.

Garland County:

    Primary Election:  May 20, 2008

    Absentee Process:
        [NOTE:  Absentee voting is a two-step process:  (1) the application; (2) the ballot.]
        1.  Submit application:
                A.  Fill out in person at County Clerk's Office, or
                B.  Call County Clerk's Office, 501 622 3610, to request application by mail, or
                C.  Fax request to County Clerk's office, 501 624 0665
        2.  If ballot is available when the application is submitted, it can be picked up at that time.
        3.  Seven days prior to election is the cut-off date for requesting an absentee ballot.
        4.  Ballot may be mailed to voter, picked up by voter, or picked up by a "bearer"; bearer may pick up
only 2 ballots!
        5.  Ballot may be returned by mail, in person by voter, or by "bearer."
        6.  Ballot must be received by County Clerk no later than election day.
        7.  Clerk discourages receiving ballot and voting then in person as that is the purpose of Early Voting.

        Date:  Preferential Primary Run-off if needed begins June 3 for the June 10 election.

        Dates:  October 20 - November 3, Monday-Friday  8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., Saturday  10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

        Date:  General Election Run-off if needed begins November 18 for the November 25 election.

    Absentee Process:
        [NOTE:  Absentee voting is a two-step process:  (1) the application; (2) the ballot.]
        1.  Request application:
            (a) In person:  Fill out, submit; ballot can be picked up if available; County Clerk's office, Benton.
            (b) In person:  Pick up, take home, fill out, mail back.
            (c) By phone:  Request; application will be mailed; fill out, mail back; County Clerk, 800-794-5800
            (d) By Internet:  www.salinecounty.org:  download; print out; return by fax, mail, or in person (not e-mail).
            (e) By mail:  Request; application will be mailed; fill out, mail back.
            (f) By mail:  Supply information: Name, printed; name, signature; address; birth date;
                                 request "ballot for general election and runoff."  This constitutes an application.
        2.  Application may be requested up to May 13 by mail or fax.
        3.  Application may be requested and filled out over-the-counter as late as May 19, 4:30 p.m. by voter, agent, or "bearer."
            [This would serve the need of a person unable to go to the polls.]

    Early Voting:
        Dates:  May 5 - May 19,
